What Is Mobile Car Detailing and How Does It Work

What is mobile car detailing? It's a professional detailer coming to your home or workplace and cleaning your car there, so you don't have to take it anywhere.

You book a time, we turn up with the equipment and the products, and you get your car back looking its best. It saves you the drive, the waiting around and the day without your car. This post explains how it works, what you need to provide and whether it's right for you.

How mobile car detailing works

It starts with a message or a call. You tell us about the car and what you'd like done, and we recommend the right service and give you a time estimate. You can see the options and what's included on our services page.

On the day, we arrive at the time we agreed. We look over the car with you, confirm what's being done and get started. When we're finished, we show you the result and you're free to go on with your day. You can be at home or at work while we're there, and you don't need to hand over anything except access to the car.

In short:

  • You book, we come to you
  • We confirm the work with you at the start
  • You pay for the service you agreed, with no surprises

What you need to provide

There are only two things we need. We need access to an outdoor tap and electricity, because that's what we run the equipment from. We also need somewhere to park close to the car so we can work around it safely.

If you're having the car done at work, the same applies. We need a parking spot, access to water and mains electricity. We'll work around your schedule, so it doesn't get in the way of your day.

If you can't provide a tap or power, get in touch and we'll see what we can do. It's much better to ask than to find out on the day.

Where we work

We cover Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and nearby towns within about 15 miles. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just ask and we'll check. We work Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm, and we can do later times on request. Sundays are by appointment.

Is mobile detailing as good as a detailing studio

It's the same job, done in a different place. The quality comes from the products, the technique and the time taken, not the building. We use professional grade, pH-neutral products that are safe for all paint types, and we work by hand.

A studio has a roof, and that helps with very big jobs like paint correction. For most services, a mobile detailer will do exactly the same work. If there's a job where we think the weather is a problem, we'll tell you and plan around it.

The real difference is convenience. You don't have to drop the car off, find a lift home or collect it later. You stay at home or at work, and the car gets done.

What does it cost

Prices depend on the service and the size and condition of the car. A Regular Maintenance Clean starts from £50 and takes about 1.5 hours. A Full Service Valet is £150 and takes 2.5 to 3 hours. The bigger services, like a deep clean or paint correction, cost more and take longer. Every price is on the pricing page, and we confirm a final quote before we start. If you'd like to know what affects the time, we've covered it in how long a car detail takes.

Who mobile detailing suits

It suits most people, but it's especially good in a few cases. Here's who gets the most from it.

  • Busy people who can't spare half a day without the car
  • Anyone with more than one car at the same address
  • People who work from home and want it done while they get on
  • Anyone selling a car, who wants it to look its best before the photos. We cover this in detailing before selling your car
  • Anyone who'd rather see the work being done than drop the car off

If your car is stored away from your home, or you don't have access to a tap, you may find it easier to arrange another location. We can talk it through.

FAQ

Do I need to be home?

Not always. You do need to give us access to the car and the tap and electricity. Plenty of customers are at work while we're at their home.

What if it rains?

Tell us and we'll talk through the options. Some jobs, like a wash, are fine in light rain. Others, like polishing or coating, need dry conditions, and we'll let you know if we need to move the day.

What products do you use?

We predominantly use Autobead products. They're professional grade and pH neutral, so they're safe for all paint types.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice. Same-day cancellations may incur a small fee. If something comes up, just let us know as early as you can.

Ready to book a mobile detail

If you'd like us to come to you, get in touch and tell us about the car. We'll recommend a service, give you a time estimate and find a day that suits.
